Deborah Harper, President of Psychjourney, interviews Dr. Marc Bekoff, author of The Emotional Lives of Animals: A Leading Scientist Explores Animal Joy, Sorrow, and Empathy - and Why They Matter, published by New World Library.

One of the world's foremost experts on animal emotions, Marc Bekoff is professor emeritus of Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and co-founder with Jane Goodall of Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals He has won many awards for his scientific research including a Guggenheim Fellowship, and is a prolific writer with more then 200 articles as well as two encyclopedias to his credit.

The author or editor of numerous books, including the Encyclopedia of Animal Rights and Animal Welfare, The Cognitive Animal: Empirical and Theoretical Perspectives on Animal Cognition, Minding Animals: Awareness, Emotions, and Heart and the Encyclopedia of Animal Behavior. 

In 2005 Marc was presented with the Bank One Faculty Community Service Award for the work he had done with children, senior citizens and prisoners.
